Having taken my auto up and back down the United Kingdom and Eire for the previous a decade and been exasperated with the traffic, roadworks, potholes, dodgy country lanes etc I was due in Germany thru my work for five days in Berlin.
I have a cousin who resides in Leipzig so decided to stay for one week and would drive down to see her so I gave her a call to work out if that'd be ok which it was and she claimed you're going to like driving down it is going to be an experience.
The next thing I wished to do was to hire a vehicle and what sort of automobile would I like to drive in, now my current car is a Volkswagen so I didn't wish to drive another but decided to stay with a German make and went for the Mercedes B-Class the reason for this well I wanted to arrive and it has safely assistance systems which can stop accidents and reduce the consequences of accidents,eg attention assist, crash prevention assist, distronic plus and pre-safe, which sounded good to me.
So after the boring 5 days of work in Berlin was ready to pick up the automobile and get moving. After signing all of the documentation (was like signing my life away) I got the keys and picked up the B-Class and had studied the map, got use to the left hand steering, went for a pit stop, and quick bite to eat was time to set off.
As I was approaching the autobahn was getting a bit nervous as I didn't know what too expect as only learnt about it and what I seen off it was Jeremy Clarkson driving a bugatti veyron like a mad man on top gear. Once got on the autobahn and started feeling assured I then began to truly like it. The journey was 194km and it took me slightly below 2 hours and because I know the way, I am sure I'd beat that time coming back up to Berlin and did.
It's an impressive bit of German engineering and would counsel driving on the autobahns of Germany to anybody if you ever get the opportunity.
