Mitsubishi Deliver New Electric Car

by on 2009/08/19

The i-MiEv electric car from Mitsubishi has started being shipped to a range of select customers.

The rest of the world will see the release of the car sometime next April. The car manufacturer is selling the car for 34,000 euros and are beginning to take orders next month.

The car is powered by a 64 hp electric engine that's fitted in the rear of the car. Using the lithium ion battery that powers the engine, you should be able to drive around 160 kilometres before running out of juice. You might be disappointed by the speed, with the lithium battery you will only reach 80 mph.

Once you have driven you 160 kilometres, you will have to hold up for another 7 hours while it recharges. However, there is an alternate quick charge method which supposedly charges the battery to 80% in just 30 minutes, not sure why the full charge takes 7 hours then.

The car is relatively small measuring in at only 3.4 metres in length and 2.5 metres wide, it's able to carry 4 people. It includes a series of features including a navigation and entertainment system, plus air conditioning.

At 47,000 dollars (29,000 pounds) the new i-MiEv electric car is definately not the cheapest on the market. However, if you really want to help the world, you won't mind paying the higher cost for a greener car.

No doubt you will be able to get this car by usign a alternative method. By getting a Mitsubishi lease out for this car you often pay less because you don't buy the entire car. This is the same with any other car maker I must add, whether you want a Chrysler lease or a eco friendly Mitsubishi. However, when you think that you wouldn't have to buy gasoline for the i-MiEv, it could be very cheap to lease.
